Lucknow, August 21, 2025: A 65-year-old man from Ghaziabad allegedly consumed poison at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Janata Darbar in Lucknow on Thursday morning, prompting a swift security response and an immediate hospital rush. Police said the incident occurred around 8:50 a.m. at the CM’s residence, where the man told staff he had ingested a poisonous substance.
The individual has been identified as Satveer (also reported as Satbir) Gurjar, a resident of Sirauli in the Loni area of Ghaziabad. According to preliminary information, he is a retired Army man. At the venue, he alleged that persistent harassment by BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar drove him to take the step. The man claimed he faced threats after exposing BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar’s ‘Kalash Yatra,’ which he alleged was a tactic to destabilize the Yogi government.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where police and doctors monitored his condition. While some early local reports described his condition as serious, Lucknow Police later said he was stable and under observation, and that further action would be taken at the hospital.
A written complaint was recovered, officials said. Police have opened an inquiry to verify the allegations and sequence of events. Officials are expected to record the man’s detailed statement once doctors permit. Meanwhile, Nand Kishore Gurjar has strongly denied all allegations leveled against him.
The Janata Darbar, held to allow citizens to directly place grievances before the Chief Minister, continued under heightened security following the disruption.
