Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh – In a heart-wrenching incident in Kaushambi district, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her brother and sister-in-law for a large sum of money. The duo forced the minor into a marriage with a 35-year-old man from Aligarh, identified as Satyendra, in exchange for lakhs of rupees. The case has sent shockwaves through the community and exposed the grim reality of human trafficking in the region.
The incident took place in the Karari police station area. According to the victim’s mother, who complained to the police on August 6, her daughter was taken away on July 7 under pretenses. The minor was subjected to a forced marriage and faced sexual violence during her month-long ordeal. Despite the trauma, the brave teenager managed to escape and return home, where she confided in her mother about the horrific experience. This prompted the mother to approach the police, leading to swift action.
The Kaushambi police registered a case under charges of human trafficking and forced marriage. The accused brother and sister-in-law were arrested and presented in court, which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody. The minor is currently undergoing medical examination and counseling to help her recover from the trauma. Circle Officer Manjhanpur, Shivank Singh, confirmed that a case has been filed against four individuals, including the brother and sister-in-law, based on the mother’s complaint, and two of the accused have been apprehended.
This disturbing case sheds light on the persistent issue of human trafficking in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in poverty-stricken areas like Kaushambi, where vulnerable minors are exploited, sometimes by their own families. The incident has sparked outrage and discussion among locals, who are calling for stricter measures to curb such crimes. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure all involved are brought to justice, while efforts are being made to support the young victim in her recovery.
