Agra, Uttar Pradesh, August 17, 2025 – In a heartbreaking turn of events that has left the quiet village of Mahal Badshahi in shock, a woman named Babli has been arrested for the murder of her 70-year-old father-in-law, Rajveer Singh. This comes just years after she served time in prison for killing her own husband. Police say Babli, with the help of her lover Prem Singh, strangled Rajveer to death late on Thursday evening. The body was found the next day in a nearby millet field, sending waves of fear and sadness in the village.
Babli’s dark story started six years ago when she was accused of murdering her husband, Hariom. Back then, she was sent to jail and spent about five and a half years behind bars. During that time, tragedy struck again, her eight-year-old son reportedly died by suicide, but Babli always believed her in-laws had something to do with it. She suspected they killed him out of revenge or anger while she was locked up. This deep grudge seems to have fueled her actions now, according to what police have uncovered.
After her release from jail 11 months ago, Babli tried to start over. She moved back in with her in-laws at first, living with her two teenage daughters, who are 16 and 17 years old. But things quickly turned sour. Rajveer and his wife, Munni Devi, wanted the girls to stay with them for a better upbringing, thinking Babli wasn’t fit to raise them. Babli refused, and the family fights grew worse. Two months ago, she packed up and rented a room in nearby Digner village, taking her daughters with her.
That’s when Prem Singh entered the picture more prominently. Prem is no stranger to trouble, he’s a known criminal with a long rap sheet. In 2016, he was jailed for rape in Thana Dauki but got out on bail. Later, he killed another man in Firozabad over an affair and went back to prison. Somehow, he connected with Babli, possibly through a mutual friend while she was still in jail. He even helped arrange her release. The two started a relationship, and police believe this affair played a big role in the recent killing.
On Wednesday, Babli called Rajveer, pretending she wanted to talk and sort out their differences over the girls. Rajveer, hoping for peace, went to meet her. But he never came home. His wife, Munni Devi, reported him missing that night. The next day, Prem Singh himself tipped off the police about a body in the field. When they arrived, they found Rajveer strangled to death. Munni identified the body, and the pieces started falling into place.
Investigators say Babli and Prem lured Rajveer to a so-called “compromise meeting” and then attacked him. The motive? Revenge for her son’s death and the ongoing battle over her daughters. Munni Devi told police that Babli’s affair with Prem was what led her to kill Hariom in the first place, and now it had claimed another life. “She had an affair with Prem Singh, which led her to kill her husband,” Munni said in her statement.
Babli and Prem were arrested soon after the body was discovered. The police, under DCP East Zone Ali Abbas, are digging deeper into the case. They’ve called it a twisted tale of revenge and forbidden love. “Babli’s lover Prem Singh is a habitual criminal,” Abbas noted, adding that more details are coming out as they question everyone involved.
As the investigation continues, police are looking into any other angles, like whether Babli’s suspicions about her son’s death hold any truth. For now, Babli faces serious charges, and Prem’s criminal past might make things worse for both. The court will decide their fate, but the pain for the remaining family is already too much.
Cases like this remind us how anger and secrets can destroy lives. We hope this serves as a warning, but for Munni Devi and the two girls, healing will take time. The community is rallying around them, offering support in these tough days.
