Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a bold step in digital governance by rolling out the Seva Mitra portal. Launched in 2021, this platform connects citizens with local service professionals—like plumbers, electricians, mechanics, carpenters, laundry providers and more—at affordable rates while empowering thousands of skilled workers across the state.
How Seva Mitra Works
The Seva Mitra initiative, developed by the Department of Labour & Employment, serves as a bridge between service seekers and local professionals, with geography-based matching to ensure convenience and relevance.
Users can book services using the portal, the mobile app, or the toll-free helpline (155330). Once a booking is placed, a nearby verified provider is assigned via the platform. After the job, customers review the service, which helps maintain quality and integrity.
Impact on Jobs and Local Economy
By mid-2025, Seva Mitra had already facilitated nearly 39,857 service bookings, helping more than 52,349 skilled workers find steady work close to home. These professionals—a mix of trained electricians, carpenters, mechanics, and other technicians—have collectively earned over ₹27 lakh directly into their wallets through completed jobs.
The portal’s toll-free helpline has received over 38.49 lakh calls, demonstrating its popularity and reach among citizens seeking services.
Building a Self‑Reliable Uttar Pradesh
This initiative aligns perfectly with CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision of an “Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh”. By integrating digital governance with practical opportunities, the state is encouraging local employment while delivering reliable services at affordable cost. Rural and small-town residents are benefitting greatly as they no longer need to travel or depend on urban centers for everyday services.
Training and Employment Director Neha Prakash notes that Seva Mitra is now a key driver of livelihood generation, especially for youth who had vocational training but lacked platforms to showcase their skills. They now get work, respect, and financial independence through this government-backed portal.
Officials report that plans are underway to expand the portal further. More services will be added, and coverage will extend to every district and municipal area. This expansion aims to bring the platform’s benefits to even more residents and skilled workers across Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adityanath’s Digital Governance Drive
Seva Mitra is part of a broader wave of tech-enabled initiatives under CM Yogi’s leadership. It mirrors other digital platforms launched by the state—such as the IGRS grievance system, CM Dashboard, Nivesh Mitra, and Mine Mitra—aimed at transparency, efficiency, and ease of citizen access.
In recent months, the government also unveiled the HRMS portal for Udyami Mitras, a cloud-based human resource management system that automates leave, attendance, payroll and performance evaluation for industrial facilitation personnel.
Other welfare achievements under his tenure include raising the minimum wage for agricultural workers to ₹252 per day, support to youth via the CM YUVA scheme, and an ambitious Zero Poverty Campaign targeting the poorest households with upliftment through targeted schemes and data-driven outreach.
Looking Ahead: What People Should Know
a. For citizens: Seva Mitra offers a trusted way to book services at home. The app, website, or helpline provides quick access to verified professionals.
b. For professionals: Skilled workers can register on the portal to find steady, local jobs and get paid digitally.
c. For policymakers: Continued expansions will enable better rural reach and inclusion of more services. Partnerships, promotion campaigns, and integration are already in motion to deepen its impact.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Seva Mitra portal has grown into a powerful tool for local employment, service delivery, and digital inclusion in Uttar Pradesh. Its success so far reflects a thoughtful approach to governance—one that values both citizen needs and the empowerment of workers. With targeted expansion plans in place, Seva Mitra is well on its way to further enhancing livelihoods and quality of life across the state.
