Lucknow, August 9, 2025 – Chaitra V, a senior IAS officer and Director General of Youth Welfare and PRD Department in Uttar Pradesh, has filed a police complaint against Naren Raj, her husband’s business partner, accusing him of mental harassment. The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Alambagh police station in Lucknow, sparking attention due to the high-profile nature of the case.
According to the complaint, Chaitra’s husband, G Harish Kumar, and Naren Raj are partners in a hotel business that recently faced financial losses. Chaitra alleged that Naren Raj pressured her to use her position to arrange meetings with prominent hotel entrepreneurs to recover the losses. When she refused, she claimed Raj began harassing her, causing significant distress to her personal and professional life. The harassment, which reportedly lasted weeks, included repeated demands and threats that impacted her mental well-being and work.
The Alambagh police have confirmed the FIR and are investigating the matter. Inspector Subhash Saroj stated that officers are collecting evidence and recording statements to understand the full scope of the allegations. “We are taking this seriously and will take appropriate action based on our findings,” Saroj said. The case has drawn public interest, with many discussing the challenges faced by women in high-ranking positions.
Chaitra, a 2007-batch IAS officer known for her strong administrative record, has served in key roles, including District Magistrate in multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh and Divisional Commissioner of Aligarh. Her complaint highlights the intersection of personal and professional pressures, raising questions about workplace boundaries and misuse of business relationships.
