New Delhi/Lucknow, August 9, 2025 – Two of India’s top institutions, the University of Delhi (DU) and King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, have earned the prestigious NAAC A++ Grade, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded the grade after rigorous evaluations, recognizing their excellence in education, curriculum, research, and infrastructure.
The NAAC A++ Grade, the highest accreditation level, reflects outstanding performance across parameters like teaching quality, research output, and student support. DU, one of India’s oldest and most renowned universities, has been praised for its diverse programs, experienced faculty, and vibrant campus life. KGMU, a leading medical institution, was lauded for its cutting-edge medical training, patient care, and contributions to healthcare research.
DU’s official page mentioned this news as “Proud Moment for DU! The University of Delhi has been awarded the NAAC A++ Grade with a CGPA of 3.55 in Cycle 2 Accreditation, announced today, the highest possible grade! This achievement reflects the collective dedication of our faculty, students, staff, alumni & stakeholders.” S
Similarly, KGMU’s official page mentioned about this achievement as “KGMU achieves NAAC A++ with CGPA 3.67! Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Soniya Nityanand, expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Chancellor, Smt. Anandiben Patel, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji, for their invaluable guidance.”
The accreditation is expected to boost both institutions’ global rankings and attract more international students. It also strengthens their credibility for research grants and collaborations. Students at both universities celebrated the news, with many taking to social media to share their excitement.
However, some challenges remain. DU has faced criticism over infrastructure strain due to high student numbers, while KGMU is working to expand its facilities to meet growing demands. Both institutions plan to use this achievement to address these issues and further improve.
The NAAC grading process, known for its strict standards, has placed DU and KGMU among India’s elite institutions. This recognition comes at a time when Indian universities are striving to compete globally, making it a proud moment for the education sector.
