Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, 11 August – On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged village heads, panchayat representatives, workers, and every citizen to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Har Ghar Swachhta’ campaigns to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day with pride and purpose. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering national unity and cleanliness across the state.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, now in its fourth year, encourages every household to hoist the national flag from August 9 to August 15. Yogi called it a way to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters and instill patriotism, especially among the youth. He also launched the ‘Har Ghar Swachhta’ campaign, a cleanliness drive tied to the Swachh Bharat Mission, urging people to clean their homes, streets, and public spaces.
Yogi highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s progress in cleanliness, pointing to improved sanitation in villages and cities. He encouraged residents to take small steps—like proper waste disposal and tree planting—to make their surroundings healthier. “A clean India is a strong India,” he said, rallying support for both campaigns. Local officials across the state have been instructed to distribute flags and organize community cleanups.
The announcement has sparked enthusiasm, with schools, colleges, village heads, panchayat representatives, workers, and all citizens in different districts already planning events. However, some residents in rural areas say they need more access to flags and cleaning supplies, a concern officials promise to address.
These campaigns come as part of a broader push to mark Independence Day with meaningful actions. Yogi also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in making ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ a nationwide movement. With Uttar Pradesh’s 24 crore people, the state’s participation could set a strong example for the country.
As the week progresses, more events are expected to unfold, from flag-hoisting ceremonies to cleanliness drives in public spaces like parks and railway stations. The campaigns aim to unite communities while promoting pride in India’s heritage and progress.
