Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, August 6, 2025 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Bareilly to launch a massive development package, inaugurating and laying the foundation for 545 projects worth ₹2,264 crore. This ambitious initiative, one of the largest in the district’s history, aims to transform Bareilly into a hub of spiritual tourism, infrastructure, and economic growth. The event, held at Nath Nagri, saw the Chief Minister addressing a large public gathering, handing out job appointment letters, and distributing benefits to thousands under various welfare schemes.
The projects include 222 inaugurations worth ₹1,258 crore and 322 foundation stones for works valued at ₹1,004 crore. Key highlights include the Nath Corridor, flood protection measures along the Ramganga River, new bridges, bypass roads, road widening initiatives, a Unani Medical College, rural drinking water schemes, and upgrades to the Power Department and Municipal Corporation. The Nath Corridor, a flagship project, will develop iconic temples like Alakhnath, Tripathinath, Gopeshwarnath, and Pashupatinath into major centers of spiritual tourism, drawing devotees from across the country. CM Yogi emphasized that this corridor is becoming Bareilly’s new identity, with lakhs participating in its Jalabhishek ceremonies.
Speaking at the event, Yogi highlighted the transformation of Bareilly under the “double-engine” BJP government, blending heritage with development. He noted that the city, once plagued by frequent communal riots before 2017, is now gaining fame for its spiritual and infrastructural progress. “Bareilly is no longer known for curfews but for its Nath Corridor and tourism,” he said, crediting the central and state governments’ coordinated efforts. He also took a swipe at previous regimes, accusing them of handing out jobs through favoritism. In contrast, he said, his government has provided 8.5 lakh merit-based government jobs over the past eight years, including 12,000 to young women.
The Chief Minister also distributed appointment letters to over 6,000 youth through a Rozgaar Mela and handed out certificates and tablets to beneficiaries of welfare schemes. Among the notable projects launched were the widening of Sanda Pal Marg, a new Municipal Corporation office, a Power Department building, and gas conservation initiatives. Additionally, with central government support, tourism projects for Ramnagar Fort and Ahichhatra Parshvanath Digambar Jain Temple were announced, boosting Bareilly’s cultural appeal.
In a special gesture for Rakshabandhan, celebrated from August 8 to 10, Yogi announced free bus travel across Uttar Pradesh for women and one accompanying co-passenger on both city transport and UPSRTC buses. This move aims to make the festival more accessible and inclusive for women across the state.
Yogi’s visit wasn’t just about infrastructure. He emphasized job creation and economic growth, noting that investments worth ₹44,649 crore have been pledged for Bareilly, expected to create numerous job opportunities. He also highlighted the state’s broader achievements, including investments of ₹10.5 lakh crore through a recent Ground Breaking Ceremony in Lucknow, which could generate jobs for 35 lakh youth nationwide.
The Chief Minister’s schedule in Bareilly was packed. Arriving at Trishul Airbase at 10:27 AM, he proceeded to the Circuit House for meetings with MPs and MLAs before heading to the main event. Security was tight, with police on high alert along his route. Yogi also interacted with children during the ceremony, adding a warm, personal touch to the day’s events.
Bareilly’s transformation aligns with the state’s broader vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with All, Development for All), as Yogi reiterated. He criticized the opposition for divisive politics and praised the current government’s focus on security, prosperity, and cultural preservation. The city, once known for its earrings, is now poised to be recognized for flyovers, IT parks, and spiritual tourism, building on earlier projects like the Mahadev Bridge, completed in 2024 with support from PWD Minister Jitin Prasada.
This wave of development is part of a larger effort to modernize Uttar Pradesh. Bareilly Development Authority, established in 1977, continues to play a key role in sustainable urban planning, reducing congestion, and providing housing for weaker sections. With these new projects, Bareilly is on track to become a model of progress, blending its rich heritage with modern infrastructure.
The enthusiasm in Bareilly was palpable, with locals expressing hope for a brighter future. As one attendee put it, “These projects will change how the world sees our city.” With Yogi’s focus on inclusive growth, Bareilly is set to shine as a beacon of development in Uttar Pradesh.
