Ghaziabad, August 18, 2025 – A heartbreaking accident claimed the life of 25-year-old sub-inspector Richa Sachan in Ghaziabad’s Shastri Nagar area late last night. According to reports, Richa, a 2023-batch officer posted at Kavi Nagar police station, was riding her Bullet motorcycle home around 2 a.m. when a stray dog darted across the road near Kart Chowk. Trying to avoid hitting the animal, she lost control, skidded, and collided with an oncoming car. Despite wearing a helmet, she suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Sarvodaya Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Richa, a native of Kanpur, joined the Uttar Pradesh Police force in 2023. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the car driver involved, who fled the scene. A post-mortem was conducted today, and her family has been informed. The incident has left her colleagues in shock, with many remembering her as a hardworking officer with dreams of becoming an IAS officer.
The accident has sparked discussions on social media, with posts highlighting the growing problem of stray dogs on Ghaziabad’s roads. Residents are frustrated, pointing out that this isn’t the first such incident. Last year, Richa herself had been injured in a similar mishap. Locals are now demanding action from civic authorities to manage the stray dog population, citing safety concerns for commuters, especially at night. According to reports, the issue has been debated before, with some calling for better enforcement of Supreme Court guidelines on stray animal management.
This loss has hit hard, raising tough questions about road safety and stray dog control in the city. For now, Richa’s colleagues mourn a promising young officer whose life was cut short in a tragic twist of fate.
