Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, August 16, 2025 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a massive ₹30,000 crore plan to transform the Brij region, a culturally and spiritually significant area tied to Lord Krishna’s life. Speaking during Janmashtami celebrations, he shared his vision to blend the region’s rich heritage with modern development, focusing on Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, and Barsana. The announcement has sparked excitement, with locals and devotees hopeful for a revival that honors the area’s sacred history while boosting its future.
He also announced 118 new projects worth ₹646 crore, aimed at improving infrastructure, tourism, and local facilities. These projects are just the start, with the larger ₹30,000 crore initiative set to roll out over time. The goal is to make Brij a global spiritual hub, drawing pilgrims and tourists while improving life for residents. Roads, water supply, and public amenities are expected to get major upgrades, alongside efforts to preserve temples and historical sites tied to the Dwapar era, as mentioned by the Chief Minister.
Adityanath emphasized balancing tradition with progress. “Our Brij region will bring back memories of the Dwapar era while embracing modern development,” he said, as shared in posts on X. This vision resonates with many who see the region as a cornerstone of India’s spiritual identity. The plan also aims to boost the local economy by creating jobs and supporting small businesses, especially those tied to religious tourism.
This move comes as part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader push to develop its cultural and religious sites. The Brij region, known for its temples and festivals, attracts millions of visitors yearly, and this investment could make it a world-class destination.
As the state government begins rolling out these projects, all eyes are on Brij to see how this blend of spirituality and modernity takes shape. For now, the ₹30,000 crore plan is a bold step toward preserving the region’s sacred past while building a brighter future.
