Aligarh, August 23, 2025 – In a bold move against land mafia activities, the Aligarh police, acting on court orders, seized illegal properties worth ₹34 crore near the upcoming Jewar International Airport in Tappal on Saturday. The operation targeted two Delhi-based individuals, Mohammad Sharib Tasmin and Saad Rahman, accused of acquiring land through criminal activities, marking one of the biggest crackdowns under the Uttar Pradesh government’s anti-mafia campaign.
The seized properties, valued at approximately ₹11.52 crore and ₹21.51 crore respectively, were purchased between 2020 and 2024 using money earned through fraudulent means, including forged documents and illegal land deals. Superintendent of Police (Rural), Amrit Jain, led the operation, announcing the action in the presence of a heavy police force to ensure transparency. The properties, located close to the high-profile Jewar Airport project, were taken into administrative custody after the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court approved the seizure.
This action is part of a broader effort by the Uttar Pradesh government to weaken land mafias financially by targeting assets gained through crime. SP Jain emphasized that the police identified the properties after a thorough investigation, ensuring compliance with legal procedures. The proximity of the land to Jewar Airport, a key infrastructure project, made it a prime target for illegal dealings, as land values have skyrocketed in the region.
Local residents and farmers, often victims of such scams, welcomed the move. Authorities have warned that more such actions are planned to deter land mafias and protect legitimate landowners. The crackdown has sent shockwaves through the area, with illegal operators reportedly going underground. The police have vowed to maintain strict surveillance and act swiftly against any future violations, signaling the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward such crimes.
