Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh – A tense police encounter in Moradabad’s Majhola area on August 23, 2025, led to the arrest of two men accused in a disturbing case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The suspects, Avnish Yadav and Vijay, were injured during the clash and are now in custody, facing serious charges tied to the harassment and trafficking of minor girls. The incident also left a police constable wounded, highlighting the dangers of such operations.
The drama unfolded during a routine police check in the Majhola police station area. Officers tried to stop the two men, who were riding a motorcycle, for questioning. Instead of complying, the duo opened fire on the police, sparking a shootout. In the exchange, both suspects took bullet wounds but were quickly apprehended. Police recovered a motorcycle, two country-made pistols, two live cartridges, and two mobile phones from the scene. The injured constable is receiving treatment, and authorities say he’s stable.
The case stems from an FIR filed at Majhola police station on August 22, accusing Avnish and Vijay of harassing minor girls, holding them hostage, and engaging in immoral trafficking. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satpal Antil told reporters that a special team is now working to track down other members of the gang. “We’re determined to break this network and bring everyone involved to justice,” he said, promising strict legal action.
This encounter has stirred up Moradabad, a city already grappling with recent crime headlines. Locals are rattled, with many calling for tougher measures to protect vulnerable children. The POCSO Act, designed to safeguard minors from sexual offenses, is at the heart of this case, and police are under pressure to ensure a thorough investigation. As the probe deepens, authorities are combing through evidence like call logs and witness statements to uncover the full scope of the crime.
The arrests mark a step forward, but the hunt for others involved continues. For now, Moradabad waits anxiously for answers, hoping justice will bring some peace to the victims and their families.
