Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, July 30, 2025 – A disturbing incident at PM Shri School in Jalalabad, Shamli, has sparked outrage after a viral video surfaced showing the principal, Geeta Devi, allegedly forcing a Class 4 student, Nihal Verma, to remove his shirt in front of the entire class. The shirt was then given to another student, Mohammad Ali Khan, for a photo opportunity, leaving Nihal humiliated. The video, which spread rapidly on social media, has prompted authorities to launch an investigation.
On Tuesday, Additional Magistrate Hamid Hussain visited the school to probe the incident, but Geeta Devi was absent, reportedly on leave. Teachers, including Mamta Devi and Neelam, made serious allegations against the principal, accusing her of mismanagement and irregularities in the mid-day meal program. A separate video revealed that 15 liters of water were mixed into the milk served to students, raising concerns about nutritional standards. Another clip suggested the principal falsified attendance records to misappropriate mid-day meal supplies, further fueling public anger.
Parents and locals are furious, demanding strict action. The incident has drawn sharp criticism for its insensitivity, with Nihal reportedly traumatized. The school staff’s accusations against Geeta Devi, who has been suspended twice before for similar misconduct, have intensified calls for her dismissal.
A committee has been constituted to investigate the matter, with Hamid Hussain tasked to submit a report soon. The inquiry includes interviews with students and staff, as well as checks on the quality of mid-day meals.
This is not the first controversy at PM Shri School. Previous complaints about mid-day meal scams led to Geeta Devi’s suspensions, yet she was reinstated. As the investigation unfolds, parents are calling for reforms to protect students from such incidents. Updates will follow as the probe progresses.
