
Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, August 25, 2025 – A devastating accident shook Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district early today when a speeding container truck slammed into a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims, leaving nine dead and over 40 injured. The crash happened around 2:10 AM near Ghatal village on National Highway 34, under the Arnia police station area. The victims, from Kasganj district, were on their way to a pilgrimage in Rajasthan when their journey turned tragic.
The tractor was carrying around 60 devotees, including women and children, heading to Gogamedi to honor Gogaji, a revered folk deity. The truck, registered in Haryana, hit the trolley from behind with such force that it overturned, scattering people and debris across the road. Nine lives were lost, including two children, aged 6 and 12, and two women. Among the injured, 12 are children, and three remain in critical condition on ventilators. The deceased were identified as E U Babu (40), Rambeti (65), Chandni (12), Ghaniram (40), Mokshi (40), Shivansh (6), Yogesh (50), Lekhraj (40), and Vinod (45), all from Kasganj.
Local residents rushed to the scene, pulling survivors from the wreckage before police and ambulances arrived. The injured were taken to hospitals in Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Khurja, with 10 treated at Aligarh Medical College and 23 at Kailash Hospital. Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh said the truck has been seized, and the driver is in custody as legal action begins. “It’s a heartbreaking incident. We’re doing everything to support the victims,” he added.
The accident has left the community in shock, with many pointing to speeding trucks as a growing danger on NH-34. District Magistrate Shruti visited the site and hospitals, ensuring aid for the families. This tragedy highlights the risks of overloading vehicles and poor road safety in rural areas. As investigations continue, locals are calling for stricter traffic rules to prevent such losses. The village mourns, and our hearts go out to the families affected.
