Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh – In a shocking revelation, the Kushinagar police have uncovered a sinister gang involved in luring young Hindu girls, forcing them to convert to Islam, and pushing them into prostitution in Mumbai. The operation, described as a well-organized racket, has sent shockwaves through the region, raising serious concerns about the safety of vulnerable girls in rural areas.
The police arrested four key members of the gang, including a woman named Jairunnisha, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation. Alongside her, three men—Arman, Arbaz, and Ikramul—were taken into custody following a swift investigation by the Ramkola police station. The arrests come after a tip-off about the gang’s activities, which targeted innocent girls, mostly minors, from villages in and around Kushinagar.
How the Gang Operated
According to police reports, the gang used a calculated approach to trap their victims. The accused would first befriend young Hindu girls, often from economically weaker backgrounds, by promising them love, marriage, or better opportunities. Once the girls were drawn into their trap, the gang coerced them into converting to Islam. The victims were then subjected to physical and emotional abuse, including rape, before being trafficked to Mumbai, where they were forced into the sex trade.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Kumar Mishra shared chilling details about the gang’s methods. “This group worked like a well-oiled machine. They preyed on the innocence of young girls, manipulated them emotionally, and then used fear and violence to control them. After forcing the girls to convert, they would exploit them further by sending them to Mumbai for prostitution,” he said during a press briefing.
The police have rescued three minor girls who were trafficked to Mumbai. The victims, now safely back in Kushinagar, have shared harrowing accounts of their ordeal. They revealed how the gang used radical videos and religious preaching to brainwash them, forcing them to adopt Islamic practices like daily prayers. Refusal to comply often led to severe consequences, including physical abuse.
The Investigation Unfolds
The case came to light when the family of one of the missing girls lodged a complaint at the Ramkola police station. Acting on the information, the police launched an investigation that quickly unraveled the gang’s operations. “We acted swiftly to track down the victims and the perpetrators. The girls were found in Mumbai and brought back home safely,” said an officer involved in the case.
The investigation also revealed that the gang was part of a larger network operating across Uttar Pradesh. Similar rackets have recently been exposed in Balrampur and Agra, pointing to a disturbing trend of organized groups targeting vulnerable communities for religious conversion and human trafficking. The Kushinagar police are now working to identify other members of the network and determine if foreign funding was involved, as seen in some related cases.
A Growing Concern in Uttar Pradesh
This bust in Kushinagar is part of a larger crackdown on religious conversion rackets in Uttar Pradesh. Over the past few years, the state has seen multiple cases of organized groups targeting young women and minors for conversion through coercion, deception, or “love jihad” tactics. In Agra, a similar syndicate was uncovered just days ago, with arrests made across six states. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are now involved in probing these cases, given their potential links to national security threats.
What’s Next?
As the investigation continues, the Kushinagar police are urging families to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. “We are committed to bringing every member of this gang to justice. Parents must keep a close eye on their children and educate them about such dangers,” SP Mishra added.
The rescued girls are receiving medical care and counseling to help them recover from the trauma.
This disturbing case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities in rural India. As the police dig deeper, the nation waits for answers—and justice—for the girls whose lives were torn apart by this heinous racket.
