Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh – In a grim case that’s shaking up the quiet town of Konch in Jalaun district, police have booked two former lawmakers from the same family for the brutal killing of their employee. The victim, Jitendra Ahirwar, a 46-year-old man who worked at a local school and helped manage family businesses, was found dead earlier this month. What started as a suspicious death has now turned into a full-blown murder probe involving family disputes, beatings, and a desperate cover-up.
It all began on August 9, when Jitendra got a threatening phone call from his boss, former Congress MLA Ram Prasad Ahirwar, 84. According to police reports, Jitendra was called to Ram Prasad’s home in Konch. There, things quickly turned violent. Investigators say Ram Prasad, his son Ajay Singh (also known as Pankaj), a 54-year-old ex-BSP MLA, and grandson Aman Singh (alias Mikki), 25, along with a couple of others, confronted Jitendra over some unresolved issue, possibly related to work or money. When he didn’t back down, they allegedly beat him badly.
The assault didn’t stop there. The group bundled Jitendra into a car and drove him to a shuttered petrol pump owned by the family. That’s where the final attack happened, leaving him with fatal injuries. Around 8 p.m. that evening, some unknown people dumped his bloodied, half-clothed body outside the Konch Community Health Centre. Doctors declared him dead on the spot, noting deep wounds from the beating.
Jitendra’s son, Nitin, wasted no time filing a complaint. He pointed fingers at the powerful family, backing it up with call records showing the threatening chat. Police swung into action, registering an FIR against five people under murder and conspiracy charges. The accused include Ram Prasad, Ajay Singh, Aman, and two associates named Amit Balmiki and Raja. Ajay won the Konch assembly seat back in 2007 on a BSP ticket, while his father Ram Prasad has a long history in Congress politics. This isn’t just a family matter, it’s three generations tangled in a crime that highlights how power can sometimes lead to tragedy.
By August 15, cops had arrested Ajay and Aman after grilling them. Then, on August 17, they nabbed two more suspects, Salim Ahmed and Govind, who came up during questioning. These guys were reportedly there during the beating at the petrol pump. But Ram Prasad and Amit are still on the run. Just yesterday, on August 23, authorities put out a Rs 25,000 reward for tips leading to Ram Prasad’s capture. They’re also hunting for Amit with a similar bounty.
Locals are stunned. Jalaun isn’t used to this kind of drama involving big names. Police say the motive might stem from a work disagreement, but they’re digging deeper into call logs, witness statements, and the post-mortem report. Superintendent Durgesh Kumar Mishra told reporters the probe is moving fast, and more arrests could follow.
This case raises tough questions about accountability, especially when former leaders are involved. Families in Konch are talking about it nonstop, hoping justice comes quick for Jitendra and his loved ones. As of now, with Ram Prasad still out there, the hunt continues in this close-knit UP district.
