Prayagraj, September 1, 2025 – A chilling murder case in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has taken a dramatic turn, with police revealing that an alleged affair was the motive behind the brutal killing of BJP leader and former district panchayat member Randhir Yadav. The 40-year-old’s body, found in pieces on a railway track in late August. According to officials, it is a case of trust, betrayal, and revenge.
Randhir Yadav went missing on August 22 after leaving his home in Mahmadpur village, Kaudihar area, in his SUV. His wife filed a missing person’s report the next day, which soon turned into a kidnapping case when his vehicle was found abandoned in Chitrakoot. Days later, his dismembered body was discovered on a railway track, making identification difficult. The gruesome scene sent ripples of fear through the village, with locals mourning the loss of a known political figure.
Police investigations have now pointed to a personal motive. The main accused, Ram Singh, confessed during questioning that Randhir had been involved in a long-standing affair with Anjali Yadav, the wife of another suspect, Uday Yadav. The affair came to light during a trip to Nainital two months ago, when Uday allegedly caught Randhir and Anjali in a compromising situation. Adding to the tragedy, Anjali died under mysterious circumstances on July 11, with no pm conducted, raising more questions.
Humiliated and enraged, Uday, along with his brother Vijay, mother-in-law Leela Yadav, and associate Sujit Srivastava, allegedly plotted Randhir’s murder. According to DCP Kuldeep Gunawat, Ram Singh admitted to luring Randhir with alcohol on August 22. The group then strangled him in a car and dumped his body on the tracks to make it look like an accident or to destroy evidence. Two suspects, Ram Singh and Leela Yadav, are in custody, while police are still hunting for Uday, Vijay, and Sujit.
A missing piece of the puzzle is Randhir’s mobile phone, which Uday reportedly took after the murder. Police believe it may hold critical evidence, possibly including compromising photos or messages that fueled Uday’s anger. “We’re working to recover the phone and trace the remaining accused,” a police official said, adding that the investigation is far from over.
The case has stirred strong emotions in Prayagraj. Political leaders from various parties have visited Mahmadpur to console Randhir’s family, but the village is steeped in grief and fear. This isn’t the first time personal disputes have turned deadly in the region’s political circles. Similar cases, like the 2023 murder of a BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh over an affair, show how personal grudges can escalate into violence. For now, the focus is on catching the remaining suspects and uncovering the full truth. The police are also looking into whether others were involved or if the affair was just one part of a larger conflict.
