Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, August 1, 2025 – A major enforcement action was carried out by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Friday in the area of Sihani Saddik Nagar, where authorities demolished illegal constructions spread over nearly 14 bighas of land. The operation triggered alarm among those involved in unapproved building projects in the locality.
Under the guidance of GDA Vice‑Chairman Atul Vats, the enforcement team from Zone‑1 launched the operation at Sihani village. The area had been developing into an unauthorised housing colony, with boundary walls, roads, and electric poles erected on state‑land without proper approvals.
Demolition Highlights:
a. Bulldozers tore down newly built walls, structures, and infrastructure laid out on unapproved plots.
b. The colony’s developers had defied prior warnings, continuing construction despite notices and sealing orders from the authorities.
c. Protesters and land grabbers voiced strong objection, but police forces accompanying GDA personnel managed the situation and ensured the demolition proceeded smoothly.
The demolition in Sihani Saddik Nagar forms part of a broader crackdown on illegal land use and unplanned colonies across Ghaziabad. In recent months, GDA itself has taken bulldozer action against eight unauthorised colonies, removing boundary walls, shops, and other structures considered unlawful.
This is not an isolated incident: similar operations have been reported in areas such as Indirapuram, where GDA demolished shanties and makeshift structures built on reserved land, including near school premises and medical facilities.
In other parts like Rajendra Nagar, enforcement teams have demolished buildings violating approved building plans and local zoning maps, often after issuing notices to violators.
GDA’s Message to Citizens:
Officers urged the public not to buy plots in unapproved colonies, warning that such transactions carry legal risks and that the authority will continue to take strict action against encroachments.
Next Steps:
a. GDA officials have announced continued monitoring of suspicious development across all enforcement zones.
b. A list of allegedly unapproved colonies will be shared with the public soon to guide potential property buyers.
c. Officials reaffirmed their intent to act swiftly against future unauthorised construction to maintain the city’s orderly growth.
In summary, Friday’s demolition in Sihani Saddik Nagar marks the latest in a series of strict enforcement moves by the GDA. The Authority appears determined to reclaim illegally used land and deter future encroachments—with residents and potential buyers encouraged to verify land legality before making any investment.
