Etah, August 21, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a new cement factory by Shree Cement Limited in Etah’s Malawan area today, marking a significant step toward industrial growth in the region. The Rs. 750-crore plant, built under the UP Investors Summit-2023, is set to produce 3 million tons of cement annually, boosting Etah’s identity on the national stage. The Chief Minister hailed the project as a result of his government’s strict zero-tolerance policy against crime, which has created a safe environment for businesses to thrive.
Speaking at the event, CM Yogi emphasized how Etah has transformed from a place once dominated by criminals to a hub of development. “Eight or nine years ago, Etah was known for mafia and lawlessness. Today, it stands tall with projects like this cement plant and the Jawaharpur thermal power project, producing 1500 megawatts of electricity,” he said. He credited the “double engine government’s” clear policies and commitment to law and order for attracting investments. The plant, he noted, directly employs 500 people and indirectly supports over 3,000 jobs in transport, trade, and distribution, strengthening the local economy.
The Chief Minister also took a dig at previous governments, accusing them of favoring their families over public welfare. “Earlier, governments worked for their own, but our focus is on everyone’s development without discrimination,” he said, highlighting job opportunities created across Uttar Pradesh. He mentioned that the state has attracted Rs. 45 lakh crore in investment proposals, with Rs. 15 lakh crore already implemented, creating jobs for 60 lakh youth.
The Shree Cement plant, the company’s second in Uttar Pradesh and 17th in India, uses advanced technology to minimize environmental impact. It utilizes 5,000 tons of fly ash daily from the nearby Jawaharpur power plant, promoting sustainable practices. CM Yogi also praised Etah’s traditional identity, linked to Jalesar’s bells and anklets, and urged locals to work hard towards further industrial growth. Before the inauguration, he toured the facility, planted trees, and reviewed its operations.
This project, alongside other initiatives, aligns with PM Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, with Uttar Pradesh playing a key role. The event saw the presence of Shree Cement’s chairman, Hari Mohan Bangur, and managing director, Neeraj Akhoury, along with local leaders.
