Chandauli, 11 August, Uttar Pradesh – In a shocking incident that has left the quiet village of Keshavpur reeling, a local businessman named Manoj Gond was found dead from a gunshot wound early Monday morning. The 45-year-old, known in the area for running a building materials shop and dealing in property, died under mysterious circumstances at his home. Police are treating it as a possible suicide, but questions linger as investigations continue.
According to initial reports, the tragedy unfolded around 7:30 AM when family members heard a loud bang from Manoj’s room. Rushing in, they discovered him slumped in a chair, covered in blood, with a severe wound near his eye that had gone straight through his head. The scene was grim, and neighbors quickly gathered outside the house as word spread through the village.
Police from the Sadar Kotwali station arrived soon after and took charge. They recovered an illegal .315 bore pistol from the floor near the body, which they believe was used in the incident. The weapon has been seized for forensic tests, and Manoj’s body was sent for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death. Officers, led by station in-charge Sanjay Singh, have started questioning family members and locals to piece together what happened.
Sources close to the investigation suggest that family disputes might have played a role. Manoj had been dealing with some personal issues at home, and police think this could have pushed him to take such a drastic step. However, no suicide note was found, and the family hasn’t made any public statements yet. The village is buzzing with rumors, but authorities are urging people not to jump to conclusions until the probe is complete.
Manoj was a well-known figure in Keshavpur, running his shop on Kaili Road and handling property deals on the side. He leaves behind a wife and children, who are said to be in deep shock. Friends describe him as a hardworking man who kept to himself, but recent tensions at home had been noticeable to some.
Manoj’s death highlights the growing concerns over illegal firearms in rural areas, as the pistol found was unlicensed. As the day wore on, police cordoned off the house and collected evidence. Forensic teams are examining the gun for fingerprints and residue to confirm if Manoj fired it himself. The postmortem report, expected soon, could shed more light on whether foul play was involved or if it was indeed a suicide.
