Greater Noida, August 8, 2025 – In a swift operation, the Greater Noida Authority demolished dozens of illegally built houses in Bhanauta village on Thursday, clearing 65,000 square meters of land valued at approximately ₹130 crore. The action, carried out with bulldozers and heavy machinery, targeted unauthorized colonies built without approved plans, sending a strong message to land encroachers and illegal developers.
The crackdown, led by the Greater Noida Authority under CEO NG Ravi Kumar, focused on a group of colonizers who had constructed over two dozen houses without permission. These developers were attempting to carve out an illegal colony on notified land, ignoring prior notices from the authority. “We had warned them to stop, but they continued building secretly,” said an official. Using JCBs and dumpers, the authority’s team razed the structures in a matter of minutes, reclaiming the valuable land.
This is not the first such action in the region. On June 25, the authority freed 40,000 square meters in Bhanauta, valued at ₹80 crore, and on July 11, it cleared illegal structures in Haibatpur village. The latest operation is part of a broader campaign to curb unauthorized constructions across Greater Noida. “We have zero tolerance for illegal building,” said a official of Greater Noida Authority. He urged residents to verify land details with the authority before buying to avoid losing money to shady developers.
The demolished houses, some fully built and others under construction, were part of a scheme to sell plots illegally. The operation caused a stir in the area, with locals watching as the bulldozers tore down the structures. While some residents expressed shock, others supported the action, citing the need to protect public land.
The Greater Noida Authority has vowed to continue its drive against land mafia and illegal constructions. With plans to develop the region as part of the upcoming New Noida project, officials are using satellite mapping to identify and target unauthorized structures.
This move has sparked mixed reactions. While some praise the authority for protecting public land, others worry about the impact on families who may have invested in these plots unknowingly. For now, the bulldozers have made it clear: illegal construction in Greater Noida won’t be tolerated.
